Thursday 13th November - walk ***** – Orwell Country Park near Ipswich – sunny periods.

Mag went for her usual early morning walk but as it was cloudy I stayed in bed but the weather improved and it turned out nice with lots of lovely sunshine too, tomorrow is looking grim with lots of rain! So after doing my exercises I packed a picnic and we drove over to Orwell Country Park at Nacton on the outskirts of Ipswich arriving at 12.30. We decided to walk the other way today returning to the bridge over the A 14 leading to Ravenswood Park and through the woods coming out near the Orwell Bridge, instead of turning left downriver we turned right as I was looking for a different pic of the bridge to send to the TV weather. We found a lovely little beach on the Ipswich side, the tide was very low and there were several birds in the mud, not many boats but we did see one yacht slowly making its way up river in the very light winds! We spotted a seat further around the bay towards the old jetty so headed round there for our picnic. We have never walked this way before and it was great, we enjoyed our lunch with a fantastic view with the whole of the impressive Orwell Bridge right in front of us, just brilliant! We then walked to the old pier before returning to the bridge and down onto the beach looking lovely with all the trees in their autumn colours! Then up through the pines woods to the van, a brilliant walk covering 4 miles before taking the scenic route back via Levington for a welcome cuppa!
Friday is Maeva day and we are out for lunch at Waldringfield but with all the rain coming we might not get a walk tomorrow?
